Forensic Team Receives 310 Body Parts of Mutilation Victim in Pacet, Mojokerto
In a disturbing case of homicide and mutilation, the forensic team at Pusdik Bhayangkara Hospital in Sidoarjo has received a total of 310 body parts belonging to a 25-year-old victim identified as TAS. The remains were discovered in Pacet, Mojokerto, East Java, and the investigation has raised significant alarm in the local community.
Discovery of Remains
The forensic team began receiving the dismembered body parts on September 6, 2025, the same day the victim’s remains were discovered. According to Dr. Zaid, the head of the forensic department at Pusdik Bhayangkara Hospital, the initial batch included 63 pieces of human tissue, including muscle, fat, scalp, and hair, all packaged in what resembled goodie bags.
The following day, the team received additional remains, including 239 skull fragments, eight pieces of right and left thigh bones, and 22 teeth of the victim. These remains were located by police at the residence of the alleged perpetrator.
Identification and Investigation
By September 8, the total number of body parts received by the forensic team had reached 310. Dr. Zaid noted that the skull fragments exhibited signs of blunt force trauma, while other body tissues showed evidence of sharp force injuries. The identification process is ongoing, as some body parts, such as the right ankle and left arm, are still missing. However, the right palm and left foot of the victim remain intact, and all recovered pieces are currently stored in the forensic room for further examination.
Background of the Crime
The brutal murder and subsequent mutilation were allegedly committed by AM, a 24-year-old man from Aek Paing village in Rantau Utara, Labuhan Batu, North Sumatra. The crime reportedly stemmed from a domestic dispute between AM and TAS on August 31. AM claimed he lost his temper due to TAS’s behavior, which included locking him out of their shared living space during the night.
After the violent act, AM disposed of the dismembered body parts along the Pacet route, where local residents later discovered some of the victim’s organs. The police quickly initiated a search in the vicinity, identified the victim, and launched an investigation.
Arrest of the Suspect
Following the investigation, authorities apprehended AM at his boarding house in Lidah Wetan, Surabaya, in the early hours of September 7. During the arrest, police discovered numerous body parts and bones hidden behind a wardrobe in his room.
As a result of his actions, AM has been charged under Article 340 of the Indonesian Penal Code for premeditated murder, which carries a potential penalty of either the death sentence or life imprisonment.
Community Reaction
The gruesome nature of this crime has shocked the local community, prompting discussions about domestic violence and the need for increased awareness and prevention measures. The police have urged the public to report any suspicious activities and to seek help in cases of domestic disputes to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future.
