Bima Arya Sugiarto confirmed that the session would encompass various critical subjects, including the management of flood victims in Sumatra, regional infrastructure development, and the regional economic conditions. “There are other things, such as the infrastructure in the regions and the economic conditions in the regions,” he stated at the Presidential Palace Complex in Central Jakarta on Thursday.Regarding the immediate support for flood victims in North Sumatra, the Ministry of Home Affairs has deployed the Director General of Regional Administration, Safrizal Z.A., to assess the situation. “We’ve sent Safrizal to monitor the situation there,” Bima confirmed.He mentioned that Safrizal is coordinating efforts to re-establish transportation access to the impacted disaster zones. This access relies on logistical support, including essential helicopter deployment from the local police and the Indonesian National Police to manage the dire situation.“We prioritize [using] helicopters from the regional police, provincial police, and the national police. Because, up to this point, access to many areas is still cut off,” Bima explained.He asserted that the paramount aspect of the response is the swift restoration of the communication infrastructure. Bima indicated that the state electricity company PLN is currently responsible for the communication outage. He also acknowledged coordinating with Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Angga Raka Prabowo to expedite the restoration of this access.“Angga is quickly trying to coordinate with the State Electricity Company and the providers to restore communication lines,” Bima said.Thus far, Bima reported a preliminary figure of nine disaster fatalities. However, this count remains unverified due to the persistent interruption of communication networks.Meanwhile, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa briefly noted that the meeting would also address the subsidized 3-kilogram liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) or cooking gas program. Concurrently, five fatalities were reported in Sibolga from the same incident.“From preliminary data, four people have died in Central Tapanuli and five people in Sibolga.
