Grab Indonesia Says 10% Commission Cap for Drivers Still Under Review Reporter Antara September 17, 2025 | 09:35 pm TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Grab Indonesia emphasized on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, that the proposed commission cap of 10 percent for online motorcycle taxi drivers still requires thorough review to ensure balance across its platform.Chief of Public Affairs, Tirza Munusamy, explained that several factors need to be considered, including the sustainability of driver income, affordability for consumers, and operational costs for the platform.“The current commission structure involves many challenges to maintain ecosystem balance. This commission is not just a number. It reflects our ongoing investments in technology, partner protection, and reliable customer service,” Tirza said. She added that the discussion must be carefully reviewed to accommodate the diverse needs of both drivers and users.“There are multiple service platforms in the market, some offering commissions below 20 percent. In such a competitive landscape, partners have the freedom to choose the platform that best suits their expectations and needs,” she noted.Tirza emphasized that service quality, sustainability, and commitment to driver welfare remain the key differentiators. Maintaining the current 20 percent commission is part of Grab’s long-term strategy to provide reliable, competitive, and sustainable services for partners, passengers, and the broader community, she said.“If the commission rate is forced to decrease significantly, Grab would struggle to provide the safe, comfortable service passengers rely on, as well as the comprehensive support, incentives, and protections our driver partners expect,” she said. She added that lowering the commission could affect not only service quality but also operational support for drivers and the sustainability of the entire platform ecosystem, which involves millions of people. The comments come ahead of planned demonstrations by online motorcycle taxi drivers affiliated with the Garda Indonesia Online Drivers Association in Jakarta. The drivers have voiced demands including a maximum 10 percent commission, elimination of slot and bidding systems, and revisions to transportation laws and regulations.Editor’s Choice: Online Ojek Alliance Claims DPR Approves 10% Fare Cut for App OperatorsClick here to get the latest news updates from Tempo on Google News Grab Indonesia Says 10% Commission Cap for Drivers Still Under Review Reporter Antara September 17, 2025 | 09:35 pm TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Grab Indonesia emphasized on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, that the proposed commission cap of 10 percent for online motorcycle taxi drivers still requires thorough review to ensure balance across its platform.Chief of Public Affairs, Tirza Munusamy, explained that several factors need to be considered, including the sustainability of driver income, affordability for consumers, and operational costs for the platform.“The current commission structure involves many challenges to maintain ecosystem balance.
