The possibility of the merger arises as lawmakers are discussing the revision of SOEs Law No. 1 of 2025.Dasco dismissed the possibility of a merger, stating, “No (merging with Danantara), it (the Ministry) will remain separate,” Dasco said in the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, on Wednesday, September 24, 2025. Instead of a merger, Dasco mentioned that the Ministry of SOEs would have its status downgraded into an organizing body. The Ministry of SOEs currently acts as a regulator as most operational functions of SOEs are carried out by Danantara. Therefore, the nomenclature change of the Ministry of SOEs has been confirmed. “It will be called the organizing body of state-owned enterprises,” said the Gerindra Party politician.The SOEs Bill, according to Dasco, will address the Constitutional Court ruling that barred ministers and deputy ministers from holding concurrent positions as commissioners. The SOEs Bill has been listed in the Priority National Legislation Program or Prolegnas for 2025.
