Thousands of Police Set to Safeguard VP Gibran’s Visit in North Maluku Reporter Budhy Nurgianto October 14, 2025 | 02:16 pm TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The North Maluku Regional Police are deploying 1,300 personnel to secure the working visit of Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. The personnel will be stationed at six locations the vice president is set to visit, such as Morotai Island, Ternate City, West Halmahera, East Halmahera and Sofifi, and the city of Tidore Islands.North Maluku Police Chief Inspector General Waris Agono said that security for Gibran’s working visit will be integrated and comprehensive, from the airport, harbor, travel routes, to on-site security. This security involves thousands of joint personnel from the North Maluku Regional Police and the Police Headquarters in five districts and cities, the TNI, and other technical agencies.  “We just want to ensure that the Vice President’s working visit agenda runs smoothly and safely,” Waris told Tempo on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. According to Waris, ahead of Vice President Gibran’s arrival, the security situation in North Maluku is safe and orderly. His office has held a joint roll call with the TNI and related agencies as a final preparation before the Vice President’s arrival, which is planned for Wednesday, October 15, 2025.“In principle, we are committed to providing professional and humane security, so that we hope the Vice President’s visits in North Maluku can take place safely and successfully,” said Waris.Head of the North Maluku Province Public Relations Bureau Rahwan Saumba said that all technical preparations for welcoming the Vice President’s arrival in North Maluku have now been finalized. His office has even been coordinating with district/city governments, security forces, and the Vice Presidential Secretariat regarding the technicalities of the visit to North Maluku.“In essence, the North Maluku Provincial Government warmly welcomes the Vice President’s arrival. We hope this visit will have a positive impact on North Maluku,” said Rahwan. Previously, Vice President Gibran was scheduled to visit North Maluku for two days from Wednesday, October 15, 2025, to Thursday, October 16, 2025. In North Maluku, Vice President Gibran is scheduled to visit the Special Economic Zone (KEK) located in Falila Village, Morotai District, Morotai Island. He will also visit Wasana Bahagia Public School and Gamalama Market in Ternate.On Thursday, October 16, 2025, Vice President Gibran will visit East Halmahera to review the Akedaga Irrigation Network rehabilitation project and inaugurate the Dakaino Dam. The visit will then continue to West Halmahera, where he is scheduled to visit the Akekolano Public High School-IPWL and Jailolo Market.
